LOS ANGELES (December 21, 2022) — The Armenia Fund USA Board of Trustees issued the following collective statement, after holding an emergency meeting in response to Azerbaijan’s ongoing blockade of the Republic of Artsakh:
“Armenia Fund is closely monitoring the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Artsakh, which is occurring during the holidays and made worse by winter weather. Since December 12, Azerbaijan has blocked the only road connecting Artsakh and Armenia, resulting in the cutting off of vital resources, including food, water, shelter, and medical supplies. This is an outrage, and important supplies must be let through immediately.”
Armenia Fund’s executive director, Azatui Karaoglanyan – who is on the ground in Armenia – is in regular contact with local officials and aid organizations who are conducting a needs assessment to determine the nature and extent of the aid that is required to help those affected by the blockage.
“We are evaluating all potential courses of action and are standing by to provide humanitarian aid as soon as possible. As we have always done, Armenia Fund will be ready to step in and provide support in any way we can,” said Karaoglanyan.
